Dealing With Rejection : September 17, 2015

Hello everyone! Today's post is a bit different from a usual fashion or beauty related post. It is a post that is going to be about rejection, more specifically in the job market. Before I started this blog, I was a full time college student athlete looking to pursue my career in the business or corporate world. I worked my butt off in school and graduated on time with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management while working a job and competing on my school's basketball team.

When I graduated in May 2014, I decided that I wanted to continue my education and go on to graduate school. I also had a year of eligibility left on my basketball career and wanted to finish out strong. I landed a part time job days before my actual graduation which made me feel somewhat relieved that I would still be able to work, go to school, and play basketball for just a little bit longer. I finished my first semester of graduate school strong with a 3.5 GPA and basketball was coming to an end as well. It was sad knowing I could compete on a team anymore, but my year was going great. I had only played on my basketball team at college for three years because I took a break when I graduated high school so I could focus on school because after all, your education is most important. With that being said, I only played on my team for three years and I reached a milestone and scored 1,013 career points, set national and school records, and was feeling on top of the world. Then, reality set in.

I had to begin my search for a full time job in the business world. I applied to numerous places, sent a million follow-up emails and I heard not once from them. I kept my hopes up and just kept on applying and waiting to hear from them. While I was on the hunt for a job, I was still in school pursuing my graduate degree and I was absolutely hating it. My professors were nasty and my class mates felt as if I didn't belong there because of how young I was. All of my class mates were a lot older than I was and they almost looked down on me as if I was smart enough or couldn't handle it. Nonetheless, I decided to stop going to that school and to take a break once the summer approached and solely devote my time to job searching.

At this point, summer has passed and I have been on a few interviews but nothing was ever offered to me. I have applied to 300 jobs and counting and could not land a full time gig. Recently, I went on a job interview and the interviewer was telling me how well I would fit in in their company, how I would learn so much from my peers, and what my role would be at this specific company. When I left that interview, I was confident that I had finally landed a full time job. Shortly after that day, I receive yet another rejection letter that I wasn't offered the job. I was so upset and decided that I finally realized what was going on.

I had been rejected so many times because that is not the career I want or that God has intended for me. I strongly believe in the term "everything happens for a reason" and this statement couldn't be more true at this time in my life. I believe it's my time to do what I truly love and the career aspect of it will come later. I want to devote my time to this blog and start a YouTube channel showcasing everything and anything that I love.

My advice to anyone out there who is struggling to find a career or work in general, it does take time. It will feel as if nothing is going your way or you'll never figure it out, but there will be that aha-moment where everything will fall into place. I'm still working two jobs right now as I build my brand, but I know eventually my brand will provide me enough that I can eventually leave those jobs and make this my full time gig. You have to go out and get what you want. Nobody ever achieves anything by sitting back and waiting for it. I hope this post reveals your aha-moment and makes you want to reach for the stars and achieves your goals.

As always, thank you so much for your support. I cannot thank you all enough ! Let's reach our goals and dreams together.

Meg

Reaching My Goals and Dreams : September 11, 2015

Hello everyone ! Happy Saturday ! I've been doing a lot of soul searching and figuring out what I want to accomplish in life over this past week. Since I've went ahead and changed the name of my blog, I thought I should change a few things in my life too. I felt as if I wanted my blog to have a more personal feel and it made me want to change things in my life as well. Without further adieu, here are my top five changes and goals that I would like to make and reach !

1. Make my blog my first priority : As I have mentioned, I want to make this blog a place where people can connect and feel at home. Although I still work on a daily basis, I want to eventually be blogging full time. My goal is to make this blog my full time job and do what I love and produce amazing content !

2. I want to change my lifestyle : I want to change the way I view life and how I take care of myself. I'll admit I've been pretty lazy lately and need to start working on myself and improving my overall health. Recently, I have joined the Tone It Up Fit for Fall challenge and I cannot wait to start. It starts on September 21st, and I look forward to reaching my goal and becoming healthier. Check out Tone It Up YouTube channel for more details on the challenge. I would love if you joined it with me and let me know your results !

3. Starting a YouTube channel : This is a big one for me. I want to start a YouTube channel and post look book's of my daily outfits and also what's on trend. I am obsessed with watching look book and fashion videos and feel like I can share some amazing advice ! I hope you'll follow me along this journey !

4. Grow my Social Media accounts : I recently took a class with The Nectar Collective on how to be a Social Media superhero. I learned so much important information on when to post, what to post, and how to gain a community within your social media accounts. I have an Instagram, Pinterest, and a YouTube channel in case you didn't know. You should follow me ;)

5. Sharing my blog with everyone I know : This is super important to me. I have had this blog since around May and only a few people in my personal life actually know about it. I have been somewhat embarrassed to tell them about it and I have been afraid to share my creativity with the world. I want to build up the courage to share my blog with everyone I know. I hope I will do this one sooner rather than later !

These are my top five goals that I want to accomplish as soon as possible. I hope you've enjoyed them and you feel inspired by this post ! Let me know what your goals are !

Enjoy !

Dealing With Negativity : August 31, 2015

Hello everyone ! I hope everyone is enjoying their Monday and I hope you all have a wonderful, productive week ahead of you. As some of you may know, I have posted about Mimi Ikonn, who is my biggest inspiration in everything that I do. I dedicated a post to her and linked her video on how to be happy and if you haven't seen it yet, you should definitely go check it out. Mimi recently posted a video on negativity and she literally nailed every point on negativity and how to deal with negative people or situations in your life. As I sat and watched this video, I realized that every scenario and situation she spoke about, I have once been through those exact schemes. Dealing with negativity is such a hard thing to do, and Mimi helps you realize how simple letting go of negativity can be. Although it'll take some time, you can live a life filled with positivity and happy thinking. You need to realize what needs to be eliminated from your life and move forward with nothing but gratitude and positive ways. Below, I will post Mimi's video on how to deal with negativity. I hope you all will view this video and be on your way to a more happy and fulfilling life. God bless you all and I hope you have a wonderful day!

All the best !
